Jeffrey Hantover is a New York City based writer. His novel, The Jewel Trader of Pegu, published by William Morrow in 2008 was a Barnes & Noble “Discover Great New Writers” selection, Borders “Original Voices” selection, and the Independent Book Sellers BookSense pick. His novels, The Three Deaths of Giovanni Fumiani (Cuidono Press) and The Forenoon Bride (Severn House) are forthcoming in 2023.  His poetry and short fiction have appeared in various literary journals. 

He lived for a dozen years in Hong Kong where he wrote for Asian publications on art, culture, food, and travel with articles that ranged from Bruce Lee and architectural preservation to the best fried chicken in Kuala Lumpur.  He wrote the catalog text for Uncorked Soul: Contemporary Art from Vietnam, the first major exhibition of contemporary Vietnamese painting outside Vietnam.

He was a 2010 summer fellow at the Norman Mailer Writers Colony. 

He is a graduate of Harvard College, attended the John F. Kennedy School of Government, and received a Masters in Sociology of Education and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Chicago.
